FS5: Will Nikon APS- lenses work on a FS5 with an adaptor?

I have various Nikkor lenses used on my APS-C Nikon D5300. Since most of them have electronic aperture, ie no aperture ring, will they work with an appropriate adaptor on a FS5?

I'm assuming the autofocus and image sabilisation on these lenses will be inoperable whatever adapter I might purchase?

Look at the Novoflex Nikon to Sony E mount adapter. Full smooth mechanical control of all Nikon lens's aperture but yes, no electronic interaction between camera and lens.

Thats a nice option to have but the big drawback is that awful stair-steppy electronic iris I assume. I guess the fancy new electronic ND the FS5 has could help with that. For ME personally I'd rather have the trade off of manual everything in order to retain/have a smooth steepless iris. But thats just me.

Rejoice! Is a good thing you have Nikon mount lenses. They're far cheaper to adapt and mount than Canon EF lenses, as their aperture gets controlled by a little mechanical lever, so no fancy (and expensive!) electronic adapter is needed to use your lenses on an E mount camera :)

Yep, they sure will work. I use a Metabones basic Nikon adapter (no electronics) that I picked up used. It works great! It has a calibrated ring that controls the iris with no clicks and allows me to understand what f-stop I have selected. I love manual focus; dislike auto focus when it comes to video. As for VR, that would be nice, but I will wait and let someone else try out the Commlite adapter that is about to come on the market. One of the real issues with these cameras (AF100, FS5, FS7, etc) is that the owner has to ante up for some real good lenses in order to produce stellar images. It is all about the glass and the Sony f4 round and round focus and zoom rings that work differently depending on on how fast you turn them, are a nightmare. I have the 18-105 and it is not growing on me. I dislike it more and more each time I use it. So, yes, the Nikkor ASPS-C or full frame lenses will work just fine. They aren't designed for video, but you can work around that depending on the kind of work that you do.

I agree jc. With those new cameras optics matter even more, you will be surprised how totally different image can come out dependant on the lens used.

Image Stabilization can be a great tool, & easy enough to shut off when it's undesirable.

But anyone relying on adapters should have more than one as everything has the potential to break. Novoflex's adapters are robust, however a good friend busted one on a job, & had to resort to his backup.

If I was a Nikkor user I'd likely have both a Smart, & a Dumb, Adapter.
