will HVX200 play my DVX100B DV tapes?

Upgrading from DVX100 to HVX200 but have shot a lot of footage on DVX which I might want to capture to PC one day for whatever reason. . Will HVX be able to play the tapes recorded with DVX? I know HVX has a deck, and assume it does not record with any weird compression codec etc... So should be able to read my DVX tapes? Right?

Cause I am selling my DVX and would hate to end up with tapes I no longer can view/capture/edit etc... And renting is such a waste of money.

Absolutely!!! I play my DVX's tapes even on my old and trusty Sony TRV900!!! Incidentaly, I did the same thing you did, bought an HVX and currently selling my DVX100a. You'll be just fine!!!

Cheers!

Are you happy you made the leap and spent all the $$ ? I have a strong feeling I will not regret it, since I am about to make a period feature film but my retirement fund had to pay the price (no kidding) I am not wealthy and it's not easy coming up with the money to upgrade. But I do believe in my project that much.

If you own a property I strongly believe a HELOC would be a way better and cheaper choice than stealing from your 401k. I am happy so far, the HVX has more to offer than the DVX and with the upcoming Hydra modification it is going to be even better. So there will be camcorder for years to come! By the way, who is the actress in your avatar icon?
