Will HDV ever take over film??

Will HDV or RED ever take over film?? Or will film always be superior?

I personally love the look of 1080 24P! ALMOST more than film....then again I am only 18 years old...so what do I know...

What is your guys opinion on it?

+2 questioning the identity of those giving a f*ck.

I don't give a fack. (as to the original question)

I'm glad video is so cheap--but what matters to me is good movies. I don't really care what format people use and don't believe it makes any difference. Just give me some action, some drama and plenty of Jessica Alba. You guys figure out the other stuff.

Film will die, but it will be a slow death. Eventually, digital formats will far surpass it as technology inevitably improves. I give it 15 years max.

Actually I do believe HDV (yes, the long GOP format) will surpass film, if it already hasn't ... for short film production. HDV (and DV, for the matter) should have accounted for far more short film productions than film- this trend has forced major independent film festivals (short and feature film ones) to accept digital masters and screenings...

For Hollywood, or feature lengh, comercial production, no way for HDV. Even other forms of HD or 4k underperforms in certain aspects to film, making it viewed as a compromise. 10 to 15 years seems like a good prediction for the future. However, currently, FIlm is still pretty much standard for the best results possible.
