If anyone has rods system for sale that fits dvx100a and supports 15mm rods, I would be interested.
PM me.

Ahh geez, sorry mimik; I completely forgot to PM you back. Mine ended up getting sold, sorry!

Mimik, I believe that the James over at micro35 has plans to build your own 15mm rod system. He's releasing them shortly. I'll ask Brian to check out this post and maybe give you the details.

HEY TC What brand was it?? tried to PMed you again but seemes like your mailbox could use some cleaning ;)

dj, james is selling his for $250 which is little over my budget..and as far as the plans go it's little tricky to do from what I heard. That's the only reason I want to buy it now if I can find it below $200 price range.

Yeah, but the m35 also comes with it for 250... at least that was his original deal I thought...

HAHA, I just noticed that. I figured it would delete old ones automatically, not just deny people the ability to PM.

They were from Cavision, made of carbon fiber, very light, very nice.

that's what I was looking at..hehe I just never got their price list ..I guess they like to keep it secret. Is it possible to order just a base plate from them and buy yourself rods from home depot as long as they are 15mm?? or is it little more tricky?? Thanks

Sorry, Brian Valente. $400 is not a reasonable price for your rods support system. Can somebody say "PR Nightmare" They look chinsy. Heck, even the Chrosziel baseplate and rods are only $385. Maybe this is what you're hoping folks will do?

I was quite shocked when I saw that additional $400 for the rods. But they're needed for the adapter so you have no choice right?

Well, Brian Valente of the Micro35 company told me I could use the rods I already own, so apparently any of them (15mm diameter, 60mm apart) will work fine. Redrock Rods are a complete rip off at that price and I don't mind being vocal about it; they are a complete rip off.

Hi all im brand new to the site, but have been checking out the micro35 since last year on here. But i thought the whole purpose of the micro35/redrock route was for the limited budject filmmaker, I dont understand why the rod system cost just about as much as the adapter itself. Please explain to me if im wrong, im a noob :)

You can buy rods at home depot for 8 bucks each, but they're just SLIGHTLY off (standard, not metric).

Whoa - sorry. Just found this thread.

Let's see if I can backup and answer many of these questions/ concerns:

1. We will be selling a complete 15mm rod support system. I have used 3 different rod supports and these are by far the best quality - I can assure you you won't find them "chintsy". It is also not really comparable to the CAvision and similar systems. the micro35 includes a quick-release baseplate (high-end manfrotto), 1 pair 18" machined 15mm hollow rods, adjustable rod plate, and clamps. The Cavision includes rods and a base plate of some sort.
2. We will be selling just the 15mm rods (1 pair 18") - they are precision-machined to +/- .0004
3. Re: pricing. We are not trying to make a killing on the rods by requiring you get them with the micro35. If you have 15mm standard rod system, you can use those. We also provide plans for building your own 15mm rods. But we hear your concerns regarding pricing, so we will give it some thought.

All

I hope you'll notice on our newsletter we made some changes in response to your pricing concerns. First, the rod support system intro price is now $350. DIY Guide owners get it for $300 (FYI - you must own the DIY Guide prior to June 2nd to get the DIY Guide discount, so you may consider this, plus what I'm about to say). The bundle price for Micro35 adapter, achromat, clamp, 15mm rod support system, choice of SLR lens mount, and micro35 hat is $850. If you are a DIY Guide owner you get a $85 discount off that price (you don't get both discounts, just one or the other depending on what you buy)

That means you could get a micro35 adapter, rod system, achromat, lens mount, and hat for $765. If you factor out the $500 for the micro35 adapter, that's $265 for an achromat, 15mm rod support system, base plate, SLR lens mount, and hat. A 72mm +2 century optics diopter aloneis $350.

Here's the newsletter detailing pricing, product options, etc.

Hope that helps

Brian
