Will any external FireWire drive do it?

Will any external FireWire drive do it? Or do we need to buy specialised drives that cost 4000% more than a simple FireWire drive?

If your asking if any firewire drive will do when the camera is in Host mode? Then the answer is yes. If your asking about streaming to a hardrive, then you need something like the Firestore or Comm-tech thingy. Or if your talking about firewire attached to a laptop, than I would recommend soemthing with at least 7200rpm.

Yah, I'be been told you have to have a "smart drive". Right now there are only 2 options for that, the firestore and the Cineporter. The Firestore is connected via firewire, but the Cineporter goes straight into the P2 slot, which I think is going to prove more reliable and possibly faster throughput? What's cool about the Cineporter is that you can have 2 at a time in the computer, just like P2 cards. These 2 cool external storeage options render the P2 cards obsolete and useless unless you need the solid state advantage for editing on the go on your laptop, which I think is only really going to happen if you are a reporter in the field working on a short piece of video. If this camera and the P2 format takes off like the DVX did, I'm sure there will be plenty of similar vendors with competing products that will drive the prices down.
