Wikipedia Movie Making Manual

Ran across this tonight and thought some of you might find it helpful.
Seems like it might be a good starting point for information for some of those who are new to filmmaking:

Wikipedia Movie Making Manual

The lighting section seemed to have basic definitions and explanations of terminology, which is something that I know trips people up when they're starting out.

looks interesting, might have some good foundational stuff that may help many users get a grasp of the basics, and overall overview.

It's not Wikipedia, though -- it's something separate in Wiki Wiki format -- anyone can use the software and set up their own wiki.

I've been thinking for a long time that DVX user needs a wiki because the same questions, DOF adap., cheap boom mic, this camera or that camera, type of questions continually come up. It'd be cool if a wiki was setup so once an answer is up, then you could just look it up. Or someone needs to write a book. "Everything you need to know about Indie filmmaking and were afraid to repetitively ask"

I came across that site a few months ago. It's okay, but there is alot more stuff out there that is better in terms of being specific, and with examples, photos, etc.

Also, if you use the search here, and read some stickies, you can glean an awful lot of info that suits your immediate purposes, as well as general knowledge.

If you take the time.

I absolutely agree DeSica - like I said I thought it might be good for someone just starting out - but its nowhere near exhaustive or perfect, that's for sure.

Although not as active of a user until lately, I've been reading this site since I joined. Sometimes I feel noobs post questions cause its quicker than searching. You know that whole 60 seconds limit. They just can't handle it can they? I always search with "WHATEVER site:dvxuser.com" using google. Alas, I do think a community wiki would be cool. I'd host it, but what would we call it? dvxuserforpeoplewhocantsearch.com It'd have to be moderated to keep out the trashy changes people are known to do. Any thoughts?
