OK, this may sound very bizarre, but...I'm planning on shooting a TV commercial in which it appears that people's asses literally fall off their bodies! How can I accompllish this? Come on, special effects guys! what do I do?

Re: Wierd and challenging question

Greenscreen them?  Two step process...hide their asses as they stand.  Hide the rest of them as they (and their visible asses) fall.

Too complicated?  Never tried it, myself.

Re: Wierd and challenging question

could you provide a little more detail about the effect? what's left after the asses fall off? Is everyone is clothed? why do their asses fall off?

Re: Wierd and challenging question

Green screen everything including a body suit except for thier butt. Film the butt "falling off" (you could just film the butt and then make it fall in post, especially if your going to bounce it around and stuff like that). Then fill everything normal except there butt which you can use green or blue briefs to cover. In post overlay the normal shot over thier butts falling (thats how I'd do it in vegas, you may need to look at your software and ensure the butt is the top layer video). Then you'll need some static video to fill in where the butt fell from. ie your background. I use green screen because its easy to light, use a minus green gel on your light to get a clean chroma cut.

Heh heh... Let me guess, the name of the video is LMAO! :D

Re: Wierd and challenging question

This is going into favorites!
Are you doing a new green day video? What if you use plastic asses that you could rig on each one of the poor victims. If you mount them higher on their backs then when the asses fall you will be able to see a flat spot which you would fix up of course. The rest is post pro...
One thing, good luck! heh

Re: Wierd and challenging question

I'm shooting a TV spot for a morning radio show. Just different people in differnt situations listening to the radio and laughing...laughing so hard their asses fall off their bodies and onto the floor......"Wxyz in the morning, you'll laugh your ass off!"
