here are my widescreen settings:

Camera Setup- Squeeze

Display Setup- Auto

now when i import into final cut, my footage is fine, widescreen, and in order to get the black bars, i go to aspect ratio and make it -33, but that sequeess the ppl in my fotoage, and everything basically. Shud i just leave the aspect ratio at 0, and then ad a matte in?

thanks

well i dont know for FCP... but in adobe you would make the project a widescreen native project so there would be no black bars added at all.. there must be a setting in FCP to make the stage 16:9.

any footage that comes from the DVX is captured at 4:3. Set your sequence to DV NTSC anamorphic or/ just setup a normal DV NTSC sequence and in the browser scroll along to the anamorphic column and check then once you import your clips check those also.

A 16:9 image in a 16:9 timeline wont have black bars. If you really want them FCP has a widescreen matte.

if you record 16:9 squeeze and put it in a 16:9 timeline why would expect or want black bars?!? The timeline frame fits the frame that you captured.

thecome in the FCP filters tab there is a matte folder, maybe last on the list is a widescreen matte. Add it and then choose something like 2:35
