Hey ive seen a few examples of some wide shots that looked very good for the dvx. i was wondering, how do people go about shooting wides with their dvx and or what r ur scene settings? im trying to get the cleanest wide shots possible for establishing shots, any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not getting you ...

What are you really pointing at ... "Wide Angle" or "Wide Screen" ...

For 'Wide Angle' there is a lens available for DVX100 ...

For 'Wide Screen' there is a debate going on here:

Any suggestions ...

sorry for not being more clear. what i meant was wide shots, or shots from far away. we all know that dv is not that good when it comes to recording from far away. close ups with the dvx look great but establishing shots leave something to be desired. so i was wondering what does everyone do to get the best establishing/wide shots out of this camera.

Actually you're talking about "Wide Angle" shot ...

It's not the DV format or the DVX100 limiting you to take 'Wide Angle' establishing shots ...

DVX100 has a Zoom Lens system which has a certain zoom limit/range of short(wide angle) to long(telephoto) ...

Probably you won't get a 'Closeup Shot' of your choice from the DVX100 as well ...

Now come to the solution ... To overcome the problem of getting a wider-angle shot Panasonic does provide auxiliary wide-angle lens "AGLW7208G" ...

Any suggestions ..

I think you call that "far-away@infinity" When the lens grabs the horizon the horizon, depending what it is, can be difficult to reproduce on DV-25 miniDV. compositioning your shots can greatly improve your shots. The right cityscape, for example, with a million windows, if zoomed for DOF correctly, can look awsome. I'm hving much greater success with the 35mm adapters now in regard to infinity focus/small details from far away...is this what you mean?

yes i am having trouble getting detail from far away, i know i wont get the same detail as from closer but i was asking to see if anyone had any solutions to get more detail in establishing shots. thanks for the help so far tho, it has been very informative.
