Wide Lens For Canon Mk3 ???? Need Help Guys

5D Mark III is a full frame camera. Tokina 11-16 is for crop sensor cameras - 7D etc. If you are using it on your 5D you will see only a small circle of video in the middle of the frame unless you zoom into the 15-16mm area of the lens. At that point maybe you are better off just getting a more expensive lens but for a full frame camera. Maybe Canon 16-35mm II. Now if you decide to upgrade in the future to a Super 35mm crop camera like a FS100 or FS700 or RED Scarlet, etc then the Tokina should be useful since S35 sensor is smaller than full frame.

Or you can look into Rokinon 14mm full frame cine lens for Canon. It is manual focus only and has some distortion on the edges because it is so wide but the sharpness should be fine.

they also have a non cine lens which is slightly cheaper but that one is without the gears to easily use with a follow focus in the future.

^ True, except... as a 16mm f/2.8 prime, the Tokina is still a very good deal, probably the best bang-for-buck for such a lens, together with the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 (also sold as Rokinon, Bower, etc). The biggest downside for the Tokina (I have version I, BTW) is that it doesn't have a mechanical iris, so it's not so easy to adapt to other mounts.

For me the alternative would be to go not-so-wide, maybe 24mm, which could mean Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC: sharper than the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L version I, plus it has VC and is actually cheaper than the one-stop-slower Canon 24-70 f/4L IS:

No idea yet on how good that VC is for shooting video.

Nightclubs? Then definitely the sigma 20mm f1.8. Fast and wide. Awesome actually. Or the samyang 24mm f1.4.
