Wide angle lens question

I have the century optics WA lens. When attached, is there supposed to be some kind a lens protector in front of it? because it's just kinda out there in the open...

Within a week of my having bought the century 0.6 WA adapter, i had a PA topple my camera and put a nick on the lens...so, the answer to your question is an emphatic YES. (in my humble opinion)
The adapter has 102mm threads on the front and Century sells a clear filter for it.

Its a great adapter and Century was fantastic when I had my little problem.

Good luck,
Mike

Lots of people in here refuse to put anything in front of the lens to degrade the image, at least from what I've read in previous threads.

My rule of thumb has become to always have something in front of the lens - be it a clear/UV/polarizer/whatever. Even when using the mattebox, I still put something infront of the lens. For my purposes, the difference in the image is negligible- granted nothing I shoot ends up on the big screens/film/etc..
There is always a give-and-take.

Watchout for vignetting as well. I know someone makes a skinny UV in 102mm, which is less likely to cause those kinds of problems.

Happy shooting,
Mike
