I have a collinscraft adapter that is fantastic. ITs called the redeye and Broadcast Video guys swear by them. Very good optics for a reasonable ($300) price tag. You should take a look at them. I would pass on the Panasonic and the Digital Optics, and go for the Century, or Cavision also makes a very well built one.

Although "you get what you pay for" is not always accurate, it is a reasonable guideline, and you want to remember that you never want to save money on anything that goes in front of your lens (line stolen from Ken Freed).

The Century .7 is probably the best all-around lens, and the most expensive ($700 or so). The Panasonic .8 seems like a pretty good product, I played with it at NAB, but it's not very wide. I bought the Century .6, which is *very* wide, and is also the least expensive of the bunch (maybe $320 or so). Good sharp image, but limited zoom-through (can only zoom to about Z55). Also prone to flares, and you apparently can't get a mattebox to work with it (it's just too wide).

yes.. just remember the DVX is pretty wide to start, and you will get some moderate distortion on the edges when you put a .6 infront of the lens, which is probally why Panasonic went a little narrower.

I picked up the collinscraft red-eye as well. Works really great. Tried both the .7x and the .5x. Both work well and have a nice sharp image. I opted for the .5x seeing I'll only use it for specific "trick" shots. It has much more distortion, but looks wild on the shots I've used it on. Both have a fair amount of zoom through on the dvx and my thinking was - if I want a .7x I can always zoom in slightly. And as Jerred pointed out, the dvx is pretty wide already, causing some form of distortion on most any adapter when fully zoomed out.

http://www.collinscraft.com but I think the price may of gone up..

the .5 is really wide, almost fisheye, but its a really good piece of glass so at least the distortion is very clean. Its an Aspheric single element lens, and it really is almost like screwing on a filter its so low profile. The drawback to that is its not Zoom through, but when you are using something that wide zooming really doesnt come into the picture.

Why do you feel that way? It's been my experience that the ones made specifically for a particular camera tend to provide a better image than the "one size fits all" brands. I do agree the Sony WA did provide some aberrations on the PD-150, but I find the Panasonic WA quite good on the DVX-100a.

I'm not slamming the Century products... we use them on the big cameras... we even own a very rare .6X double asphere. In my experience with the Century on the DVX-100 that you cannot use full zoom range. Have you found otherwise?
