wide angle adaptor question

If you're going to be subjecting it to perilous scenarios (sea spray, flying debris, any situation where the lens might get scratched or chipped etc) then definitely.

If you're going to be shooting outdoors in areas where UV is prevalent and muddies up your landscapes, then yes.

If you're just using it in general shooting scenarios where the lens won't be at risk, then there's not really any need to put a filter on there.

But if you do decide to put a filter on there, get the very best one you can possibly afford, preferably a super-multi-coated B+W or Heliopan. Don't put some bargain-bin junk in front of your lens or you'll degrade every frame of footage you shoot.

Hey Thanks Barry. I really appreciate the help. Do you have any recommendations for good UV filters for the hmc40? Right now I have a relatively cheap tiffen filter on it.

I've got one, but I need to find a filter to go on the outside of it...what's the ring size?

Chris
