Hey guys,

I shoot all of my weddings in HD, but I shoot for a company that still requires me to shoot SD in a 16:9 aspect ratio, no letterboxing. Last month my DVX100B went down hard, so all I have left is my plain old DVX100 which doesn't have squeeze mode as an option, only the letterbox mode which is unnacceptable, so now I am looking for a wide angle solution for my DVX100 so that I can still make a little money with this baby!

My question is, will this adapter from B&H work on my DVX100 to produce widescreen 16:9 video without letterboxing? If I buy this adapter will it attach directly to my camera or is there some sort of mount I will need to buy in addition?

Thanks!

This .6 wide angle adapter won't make the image 16:9, it will only make the 4:3 take in a wide field of view. There is an anamorphic converter made for the DVX which squeezes the image onto 4:3 (like the squeeze setting on 100A,B.) Then on a monitor, or in post when you make the image 16:9 the image stretches out to look right. The anamorphic originally cost around $800-- you can probably find one used for quite a bit less. Or buy or rent a dvx 100A or B. Good luck.
The .6 wide angle does just attach directly to the camera. It is lightweight and does give a nice wider view. It is only a partial zoom through. Meaning the it will only zoom from wide to about half way to telephoto before it looses focus. I am actually selling the same .6 adapter, as well as I rarely use my DVX.
