Hi,

I'm looking for a wide angle adapter for the fuji 16x stock lense that comes with the HD100, any comments? model/maker/price where to buy?

Thanks a lot.

Gustavo

Hi Gustavo. I've seen the camera bundled with the Fujinon WA adaptor, model number WCV-82SC. For some reason, I can't seem to find any information on this adaptor, such as magnification factor, even though loads of retailers sell it.

The lens number is indeed WCV-82SC. Its $535 at EVS and should be about the same at your dealer. We bought 3 last week for the 5 JVCs we just finished purchasing after testing one last week on interiors. Had the lens adapter not performed superbly, we'd have gone with the full 13X WA coming out in the new kit from JVC and waited for that kit. However, the adapted performed flawlessly with zoom through, no distortion whatsoever and aspect ratios of parallel absolutely unaffected. No vignetting was observed so for us the lens adapter is perfect. There is a sister lens adapted made by Century that is also popular and the glass may be a bit better but not appreciably; perhaps 10% and not enough for us to justify the additional money. Hope this helps.

Gustavo, Tim Dashwood posted some tests with and without the wide adapter. Ask him if he can post those pics again.

Where are you located? You have a portuguese name, if you're in Portugal or nearby I can tell you where to buy.

In my testing I found the 5.5mm of the HD100 lens to actually have a wider FOV than the 4.5mm of the DVX100.
I used to think that this was because the 16x9 CCD of the HD100 is physically wider than the 1/3" 4x3 CCD of the DVX100, but as it turns out,
the width of the two CCDs is the same. Maybe the image circle is smaller and that's why we can see vignetting?

Add the wide converter into the mix and the x0.82 effect essentially turns the 16x5.5 lens into a 16x4.5 lens.
This is of course much wider and still longer than the DVX100 (or I assume the HVX200)

And here are the individual jpegs:

Thanks

Thanks a lot Tim and jlames, very very helpful. Actually I was a little worry about the 5.5mm lens, but then I also tested it in a small set last night(a child room) the results are fine (better than expected), however I'm still planning to get the adapter.

athouguia, I'm currently in South America (Bogota, Colombia) producing a dramatic feature for a local competition, I'll probably get the adapter from EVS or B&H to my address in the US and then fedex it here.

Has anybody tried the Cavision 0.7x adapter?

Thanks a lot.
