Wide angle 0.5x lense problem

Hi ,
I just bought a brand spanking new DVX100A and I also purchased a pro-wide angle 0.5x lense for it. The problem is I get this black halo around the visual area. I never had this problem with my Sony TRV-9 even with a fisheye on it. What do I have to do to get rid of this? Any help will be appreciated!!

Thanks

Re: Wide angle 0.5x lense problem

You probably got a "Digital Optics" or "Crystal Optics" lens, right? Those aren't designed to work with the DVX. The only .5 that I know of that works with the DVX is the Century Fisheye.

What you're seeing is vignetting (which is actually the camera seeing the edge of the lens). There's only two ways to get rid of it: either zoom in some, or replace the lens with one that's properly designed to work with the camera.

Yeah your right it's a crystal optic series, so I pretty much got scammed by the seller who is supposed to know these things! When I zoom in it does get rid of it but then it's no longer wide angle so it's pretty much useless to me!
Thanks for your help,
Rob
