Sony has been thoroughly adapting Vegas to fit its own products and excluding others (support for its own MXF format to the exclusion of the more universal OP-ATOM MXF, for example). It has been making decidedly more proprietary moves over the last few years. So . . . don't be surprised if you don't see HD-DVD support.
