Why Vegas Pro 8.1?

Hi,

My Vista 64-bit stuff renders faster with 8.1, no question and that's what is suppose to happen. If something is rendering slower, then something is happening that is unusual.

Vegas 8, AFAIK, has always had AVCHD support, but Mr Green would know much more about the PH variety - hell, I didn't even know there was a PH variety until the HMC-150 came out.

From Madison, I'm told that although 8.1 can run on a XP machine, it is really designed for Vista, and will only get the full benefit of the full feature set from Vista.

did I get this right - you can have both Vegas pro 8.0a and Vegas pro 8.1 on your computer? I was thinking of upgrading to the 8.1 but don't want it to over ride the 8.0a

I have both 8.1 and 8.0c on my laptop. Works great. Some of the plug-ins are only there in the 32 bit version so I can go back and forth.

One other thing I've found about 8.1 that I LOVE... I can now drop in 3k files! Not sure if I can drop in 4k files yet... but just having the 3k files is AWESOME!

...from the interface point of view ... the trimmer was enhanced ... you can use the traditional vegas trimmer way which is fine and uniquely vegas ... and now the trimmer can be set up in the old school source/program monitor view...
