Why shoot timelapses?

The question raised stirs up different feelings we all have. I for one welcome questions like this even though I didn't agree with the statement that came with it. I love timelapses.

They enable us to see whats happening before our eyes, a record of the tiniest of changes and details that occur every second but in a way we can see.

I suppose the danger is that now a lot of us have a tool that makes it easy to do high quality timelapses at a greatly reduced cost than before, will they become a cliche?

I for one will always love them.

they can be an artistic device but can also be used as a plot device. To tell the audience time is passing - or the construction is getting completed or the seasons are changing etc etc - lots of very grounded reasons to use them

Barth... Now tha'ts funny and so very very true. I personally think that a timelapse is just plain fun to do... Fun to experience and certainly gets WOWs from an audience.

it helps me slack at work also by watching everyone's timelapse footage. good for aiding in daydreaming especially when good music is provided.
