WHY oh WHY is FCP 7 still bringing my 720p/60 clips in as 23.98?

I just spent 2 days upgrading from FCP 5 to FCP 7 because Apple and Panasonic said FCP 5 imported my clips improperly because FCP 5 wasn't strong enough to handle 720p/60 so it was just pulling it in as 23.98 because it was easier. So I just upgraded and it's doing the SAME thing. The clips are 59.94, it says so in the p2cms software and I don't understand why it won't come into FCP when the "easy set up" is set to 720p/60 and the sequence settings are right???

I have already put the client off for 3 days thinking this upgrade would solve this issue and now I'm screwed and out of ideas, can anyone please help? Thanks.

but if I shot it in 720p/60 why would there be a pulldown? I didn't shoot in 24p. Is there a way to fix this?

This doesn't sound like an FCP issue.

Have you put this thread in the HVX200 forum here on DVXUser?

Also, I would contact your local production house. It sounds like you need this issue resolved pretty quickly, no?

easy setup is correct just made for 23.97 timebase.

hope this helps, dont know why you would need it though.
if you wanted the 60p in slow motion in a 23.97 timebase, search for slow motion on the site

No, I did the easy set up. The footage was all captued as 720p/60, the most basic default setting available on the HVX. FCP is pulling it in as 23.98 not 59.94, that's the problem. All sequence settings are correct, it's the import that is the problem.

is "remove advanced pulldown" checked in your log & transfer options?

BTW, fcp5.1 handled 720p/60 just fine. whoever told you that was full of S.

easy setup for 720/69p, footage 60p, timebase 23.97. that's the easy setup, i already told you that. and how to make a 60p timebase preset. what more do you want.

hey cheez,
Yes "Remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames" is checked. SHoudl it be unchecked for standard 720p/60 footage? Thanks to everyone for the help. I will try posting to that other site. And it was Apple tech cupport that told me that! (Funny, now I dropped $350 on the upgrade and it didn't fix the problem...)

I just re-imported a few of the clips with "remove advanced pulldown" unchecked and they look the same, but now the "vid rate" column reads the right setting (59.94) Wouldn't this have told log and transfer to turn off this setting automatically? Seems weird that removing a pulldown would be the default...?

oh and IHDOR, when I export, it looks like it's shot at 20fps or something (which it wasn't) here's a low res link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ6BizKkLQ4

Well it was finally, then I just did an export (the frst time I've exported in the FCP 7 upgrade I just did) and it came out crazy pixellated and as a squeezed square??? The wequence and easy set up are both set to HD 960x720 and the shape/size is right in viewer and canvas. Any thoughts on why this would happen? (I can't win this week..)
