Why no World Cameras For the US?

We can buy the 301-just go to Europe. In fact we would get that large VAT rebate as tourists --wouldn't we?

301 is the European version and supports 50Hz and 60Hz. 300 is the US version and is 60Hz only, but will probably be able to be upgraded to 50/60Hz operation.

So we european people will able to shoot 24p finally:)I was always jealous about it with my 200..

Hi,

You can upgrade the HPX300 to be switchable. The upgrade will be ready this summer and will cost about $800. We chose a cheaper price on the camera versus making each camea cost $800 more, for the small percentage of people that need it. Rules are the same for the upgrade, must be a US customer with a US camera and it needs to be registered with the 5 year warranty.

If you do a comparison on the pricing, the European camera is more money.

Best,

Jan

Why not just make them all switchable at the lower cost? Is there some kind of tax applicable in Europe that adds roughly $800, or is it just a way of squeezing a bit more blood ;)

Not really sure why the Europeans insist on having in all of their cameras and not just make it an optional upgrade, not mine to speak to, but for the US cameras, if you need it and you live here, then you have it as an option.

That's all,

Jan

Partly it's because of the desire to have 24p, which generally doesn't appear on many just PAL cameras...but it's also because we travel a lot us Europeans!
