Why isn't the least expensive DSLR getting any play?

If they had manual controls, they would be the rage that T2i's getting now and more since K7 came before 7D. It's a case of having missed the boat.

Hm, so even though it's 400 dollars more, has a smaller sensor (18) and only shoots 30p/60p (not 24), the lack of manual controls still has people going for the Rebel?

I've seen vids from the Pentax wherein the Focus is being changed in video and the aperture doesn't seem to be adjusting as the camera moves between light sources. What manual controls does the Pentax lack that the T2i has in video? I can only find specs on the two cameras, not anything on what manual controls each one has at its disposal.

cnet on top of things ?? not this time ...or any other imho ! The t2i definitely shoots 24p, just like it's big bro' 7d !

Yeah Cnet is not the first place I would look for reviews. They tend to be pretty vague. Dpreview or even someplace like engadget or gizmodo would be better.

Here is the 2nd paragraph from your link above I think you just misread it.

Given Canon's focus on staying ahead of the field for video implementations in dSLRs, unsurprisingly the most whizzy new feature of the T2i is support for 1080p video at 30 frames per second (as well as 24p and PAL-friendly 25p) and 720p at 60/50fps.

LOL

My bad. I just looked at the specs.

So, again, despite the larger sensor in the Pentax, the 400 extra goes to manual controls? You can't manually set the focus or aperture on the Pentax?

The slightly bigger sensor in the Pentax is really a moot point. IMO, manual controls are worth way more than $400 but should never actually cost additional money because they are so rudimentary.

Why ? BEcause it has shutter 1/24 most of the time in its video mode and its terrible choice for this framerate (too much motion blur),its noisy from footage ive seen online ,it has huge aliasing problems and its only 720p.
