why is vegas splitting up captured footage into multiple clips?

hi
im trying to capture in Vegas and if i want to capture five minutes straight of footage, it does, but when its done, it splits up the five minutes into separate clips and im pretty sure it bases each clips beginning and end for each time i pressed the record button

is there a way i can get it to just capture all as one clip instead of splitting it up?

In the capture program preferences, disable scene detection.

Yes, you can disable scene detection. However, remember, the default and correct way is to actually split scenes, as Vegas does it. It even makes editing easier.
