Why is premiere still dependent on quicktime?

Just got the classic old "no audio or video streams" when importing a .mov file. Is this some kind of sick joke?

Quicktime hasn't been updated since 2016, and is no longer developed by Apple. Why do I as a Premiere user have to depend on this outdated (and potentially dangerous) software?

Is there a workaround for this? (except converting my entire Action Essentials library from .mov to something else... NOPE).

I import mov files all the time and they work absolutely fine on CC - you sure you didn't do something?

Although, ".mov" doesn't mean all that much as it's just the container. More often than not it's the encoding within that's the culprit.

But Video CoPilot is all in on Adobe's products so it should work. In this case I think we're dealing with a .png images sequence wrapped in Quicktime.

Premiere is explicitly listed as 'compatible software'.

There is an alternative QT framework out there, but I can't find the link at the moment. I have it working on my Windows 10 laptop with Media Composer | First because it complained about lack of QT.
