why is it impossible to find an exact release date for the HVX?

My DVX isn't a month old and has a manufacturors defect in it, if the HVX comes out soon I might try and convince panasonic to take my DVX back and i'll pay the difference for a DVX.

Maybe because an exact date hasn't been released by Panasonic. Panasonic has been really clear about the release from the first time it was ever mentioned. Jan said it would be the end of the year and more recently confirmed it would be December. I expect that Panasonic is really tight on the December release and even if it does get "released" in late December, it will likely be in stores in early January. If you haven't preordered, it may take a few additional weeks to get your paws on an HVX.

sorry barry, i didn't mean to come off as a forum troll who can't do his own research, i'm just under some ridiculous deadlines. No excuse though. Thanks!

No prob. I think I'd just get your DVX fixed and worry about upgrading in the future. ( unless you have clients requesting HD content).

My suggestion to you is that you handle these two things as separate entities. If you have a problem with your DVX and it is an Manaufacturing defect, there are systems in place to resolve that. Go to our website, look under support and find an uthorized servicesr near you to check it out. Or take it back to your dealer and have them work with Panasonic.

There is no mechanisim in place to return a DVX in exchange for an HVX, even with added money. This isn't done. So get a move on in resolving the problem. Then if you want to sell your DVX when the HVX is released it is ready to be sold.

panasonic likes event dates

ever since the DVX series, and now with the HVX series panasonic likes large public events. HVX premiered at NAB 2005 and had a first prototype at IBC 2005, and most likely have the camcorder publically available at the interBEE 2005 show in japan. i'll get to see the prototype this week at resfest , and real footage at DV expo 2005 in los angeles. panasonic will have more eyeballs on the camcorder, if released at a well attended show, rather than a midweek random release.

i don't expect to see the camcorder easily available with the 8 GB or 16 GB P2 package until spring 2006 (NAB 2006 ).
