Why I (probably) will never sell my HVX

the DSLR-Pro camera war is over since... they sleep together in the same bag
agreed.

im not at war with the device. im at war with the users who worship at the altar

i guess my bitter point is all these newbie jackasses who get into the DSLR thing because the buy-in is cheap. then go around blathering all this unsubstantiated garbage that they have no business discussing. like that one ass-hat with a blog doing a review on an LED light and in the article he says that he doesnt know what CTO/CTB means. WHAT IT MEANS IS YOUR DUMB ASS DOESNT NEED TO BE "REVIEWING" LIGHTS!

and all these in-house corporate suits who said "why do we pay XZY studio $85,000 to make our video? we can get TWO canon 5D mark 2's for $6,500 and do it in-house!"
then i get phone calls asking for help with their shi++y audio...

i guess i was the newbie jackass with desktop publishing in the early 1990's - maybe its just karma coming back around ; )

you're welcome, the equivalent in french is : "on est tous le con de quelqu'un !" but "con" litteraly mean "pussy" so i google it first ! and what google give, google retake it

I had an HMC150 for a while. I always read the "right tool for the job" threads which downplayed DSLRs as the saviour for everything. I, like others, lusted after the image quality. So I brought one.

Now I truely understand what those people were talking about. I really love the GH2, but man...there's many times where the HMC150 is easier, quicker and just so much better for the job. Not even just ENG style stuff. Me and my buddy shoot these basic little skit comedy shows, and I always grab the HMC for it. built in OIS, not having to worry about focus, *great* zoom range, great audio, nice imagery... it works perfectly for that type of shoot. I once thought I might sell it, but now they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

On the other hand, I love how stealthy the GH2 is. I can carry it anywhere, and take it places I would never want to (or be allowed to) carry a big camera. Plus I love the image quality.

The combo of small chip video camera + DSLR is one I'll want to have for a long time. I would love to have the HPX250 if I could afford it.

oh jeez-louise, here goes mr vision_filmz again, blathering on about things he has absolutely no experience with...

if you shoot sports or events where you have to move your camera quickly. many clients will SHUT YOU DOWN when they see your yard markers suddenly go diagonal.

EVERYBODY AINT TRYNA MAKEA HIP-HOP VIDEO or indie feature!

thats probably because about 70% of DSLR jockeys have little or no experience in the actual industry and have nothing on which to base an argument like that.

GOD help me for getting into it again with you : (

My great friend who I have proved wrong countless times..... Let me do it once more. First of all, I use video cameras. Heck I learned to shoot on them & used them all through out college and even until a couple of months ago where we shot a couple of commercials on the hpx-500 ( me being the camera operator). Video cameras and Dslrs + film all have there place, I just needed to chime in how I just came here to read on the forums since I will be shooting on a hpx and here I see the Dslr bashing once again...

Dslr cameras are great for video when the operator knows/understand their limitations. Video cameras imo are excellent for a lot of things that you want to look like video and not really about cinema. So once again relax Mr. or Mrs? Wgzn :)
