The deal breaker for me is the Iomega REV recording media. Iomega is not a name to be trusted . I am not comfortable with that. I can barely accept JVC's HD camera, but Iomega ?

It would have open a world of possibilities and probably had circunvented a lot of the problems engineers face when trying to cram too many pixels into such a tiny block. (latitude and sensitivity issues and the like)
By "form factor" do you mean size/weight as compared to a 2/3" camera? In other respects I'd consider the form factor of the HVX (and the Z1) to be a negative feature - at least for hand held work. "Form factor" is the area I'd say JVC got absolutely dead right with the HD100. Whilst all these 1/3" cameras are obviously smaller and lighter than 2/3", they're still too heavy to hold all out front IMO - likewise it makes them more awkward in confined spaces.wabbit said:.......... unlike a lot of other people, the form factor of the HVX is crucial to some of our work so we will be getting the HVX and then will consider the Grassvalley as a primary shooter in the future.
It's hard to discount the creative potential of the flip out screen. (Hi/lo/etc.)harddrive said:I'd consider the form factor of the HVX (and the Z1) to be a negative feature - at least for hand held work.
Sometimes that's true - and applies equally to all the 1/3" cameras. But for extended hand holding I don't think the "all out in front" styling (form factor) of the HVX and Z1 is anywhere close to the HD100. If most of your work is on a tripod I doubt it's that important, if you have to handhold a lot then congratulations to JVC for at least getting that right.thisiswells said:It's hard to discount the creative potential of the flip out screen. Yah, I concede. But, I wish to add the following:harddrive said:for extended hand holding I don't think the "all out in front" styling (form factor) of the HVX and Z1 is anywhere close to the HD100
Indeed, but the HD100 has one built-in.thisiswells said:It is very complicated to add a monitor to a shoulder mount camera.
