SHORT: Why I Hate Time Travel in movies

Is physical impossibility a reason not to make a movie?

Besides, while I don't know whether reverse time travel is possible, I doubt that it's for the reason you say. Going back in time while staying in the same spot should be possible for the same reason that you can stay in the same spot right now while traveling forward in time at normal speed.

When someone comes out so publicly against time travel...I have to wonder...

...are you just throwing us off your trail because you have secretly invented a time machine and loooooove playing with it?

By the way...you had a lot of really good points in there. I never really thought about it...but your right..."if" they did time travel...they would land in a completely different location.

That would be a pain in the ass to find out the first time they tried it.

No, no, no! Sonny, while that's an entertaining video, please don't be spreading mis-information about time travel. If you travel back in time, everything goes back in time. Meaning everything is where it was at that point in time. There's nothing to calculate. I know, because I won one of the Back to the Future cars in an auction and the Roswell aliens showed me how to use it. I've been back in time plenty of times and everything is right where it is supposed to be; including the car.

"Dr. Who" must torque you right the frick off.

When will there be a 'Movie Cliches' episode on pudgy bearded guys wearing flat caps? (said as a pudgy bearded guy who happens to own a flat cap, speaking to a pudgy bearded guy in a flat cap)

There will be one when I start seeing it in movies way too much.... which is never.

Something like 70% of camera guys I know are pudgy bearded guys. Another 25% are hipsters. The remaining 5% are those really uncomfortable pudgy bearded hipsters. So until BTS videos become more popular than the actual movies (which may yet happen), yeah, I suppose we'll have to wait.

Another cool video, Sonnyboo!

Though, I don't hate time travel movies..."Let it go...let it go!"

Hmm, Let's think about this for a second. The problem is that in order to move forward or backwards in time that the vehicle would not be in the same position as it was when it started? How hard would it be for it to simply move while traveling in time? Not that hard I imagine in comparison to figuring out how to manipulate time itself.
Time travel? Yeah, about as likely as any other fantasy in film be it dragons, aliens, angels, or a hooker with a heart of gold marrying a millionaire and living happily ever after. That's the whole point of film...suspension of disbelief for the sake of entertainment or teaching a larger lesson.

You'd probably like "Ancient Relic". They take the idea of the earth and all moving, and account for it. Best example of time travel I've seen.

I believe what the threadstarter is complaining about is too little shoe leather, which in my mind is taking cheap shots. It's also kind of like walking into a dance club and saying, "You silly fools, you've been moving your feet for a long time, and yet you're still in the same place."

The point of a time-travel movie is not to present a scientifically satisfying way of going through time. By then, the screenwriter would nearly have invented actual time travel. No, the point of a movie about time travel is to explore the question, what would a human do if he were able to travel through time? What would he feel like? What would his relationships with other people be like?

As for me, and as for most people, just give me your best, cool-sounding effort at how this character can travel through time, and then get on with the story. Plutonium...Lybian terrorists...Doc Brown...flux capacitor...all right, all right, whatever. Now let's get to the good part, when Marty runs into his dad back in the 50's.
