I cant believe the fuss being made over 30P...

Has anyone shot at 30P and played back at 24P???... You get... well... 24P!!!... isnt that cool?... FRAME FOR FRAME 24P... NO FUNNY CONVERSIONS OR FRAME HOLDS OR SKIPS!

Yes its ever so slightly played back slower, like when u shoot 60P and play it back at 24P its SLO-MOTION!

I actually heard a while back that certain directors LOVE shooting 30P cos when played back at 24P it has a SLIGHT slomotionness!!!

I actually shoot 30P AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE... the only reason I dont shoot 30P all the time is because my Sony EX-1 wont record audio at the same time... (even that doesnt stop me :)

Did you all hear that??? The Canon 5D will be offering what Sony EX-1 doesnt... it will actually be MORE of a camcorder in this respect and serve me BETTER.

Here is a link to my music video shot mostly at 30P

Even if your doing sound... you just gotta remember to speed up the audio slightly.

Great visuals but still just another video about them killing each other!

Yeah! Senseless stupid ass violence in high def!

not to state the obvious, but 30p played back at 24fps still retains the filmic motion characteristics that filmmakers find appealing in 24p footage. 30p played back at 30fps (or 29.97) has the inherent look associated with soap operas.

I thought it was all about the 24p aquisition mojo.

The blur and motion?

I would argue that images recorded at 12p, 24p, 30p, 60p, etc... even with twixor etc. will be wildly different.

24p and 30p would probably match the closest but still.

I guess to put it to the test we should have Vincent Laforet just pump out his Reverie in 24p?

VOLA!

You now love 30p!

Horay! :-)

IMHO, 24p is about a cadence which brings the mind into a certain physiological state receptive to the suspension of disbelief. I think this is a physical thing that happens with our brains when we focus attention on something with roughly this rhythm. It doesn't matter what frame speed its shot at, but rather how it's played back. I separate this from a 180 degree shutter which I feel renders motion in a most natural and pleasing sense while shooting.

I've heard slowing 30p to 24p is common for music videos, but how does it work for narratives, dialog, etc? I could see it being a problem, but then I've never tried it. I would think it would be a useful effect, but that you wouldn't shoot a feature or even a short this way. Am I wrong here? If I am, I'd love some examples.

i just took the footage from canons website the "raw clips" and exported them through premiere pro 24p and it's much better on the eyes. It has slight motion blur, but much more appealing than crappy 30p.

So aside from it being about being tough guy and killing people over crumbs, the visuals are top notch as is the whole Black and White thing.

Great Job all the Same!

Show us a dialogue scene shot 30p and played back at 24p that doesn't look funny because it's basically 85% slow motion.

Yes it's a nice look for music videos and other content appropriate for slight slow motion... but not practical for anything else. But I could be proven wrong...

Also, ESTEBEVERDE, why is it necessary to speak negatively about Nicky's music video content (of the song) when we are talking tech (30p vs 24p)

Why is it necessary for the content of Nicky's music video to be negative.

Come on.

Be serious.

I'm not saying it's like shooting a snuff film... but it does glorify violence and a ridiculous value system.

Nicky might not have written or performed it but his beautiful images sell it.
