Why hack a GH2?

I am shooting a micro-documentary with my GH2.

I am interested in crisp video but want to know...

Why should I hack my GH2? Did you? Why?
 
Because it's better, adds features (PAL/NTSC switching, timelapse, etc), is free, and can be uninstalled if you don't like it.

Is there ever a "danger" in hacking the GH2? Are some hacks so unstable that they could muff the whole system up?
 
The hacking process is relatively safe. The main concern for you is choosing one of the more "stable" hacks for you documentary work. Some of the "less stable" hacks can freeze up during shooting forciing you to restart your camera. But there are a lot of "safe" ones out there. Check the personal-view.com site for more info.
 
As with any firmware upgrade, the camera must not power down until the firmware is fully loaded. Use a fully charged Panasonic battery - do NOT risk using a 3rd-party battery or main adapter.

I did a search for stable hacks but it seems there are so many with equal people saying 1 is good while others saying they aren't so good.

What are some stable documentary (some panning movement) hacks that you have personally used?
