why doesn't timecode start at 00:00:00;00?

When I press the record button on the HVX200, the timecode never starts at 00:00:00;00.

Why is this???

I'm recording to my P2 card.

Every time I press record, the HVX200 begins a new clip.

So why doesn't the timecode always start at 00:00:00:00???

Right now, I have no way of knowing how many seconds I am recording.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me figure this out or change the timecode setting so I can start at 00:00:00:00.

I just saw that someone else posted the same question, so here's a follow up question. NOw that I figured out how to reset it, isn't there a quicker way to reset the timecode than having to manually reset each number in the 00:00:00:00.
Isn't there a button you can press that resets everything to 00:00:00:00:00 in one go???

You do NOT want every clip to start at 00:00:00:00 - timecode is meant to be used to be able to point to a specific frame or set of frames - so each clip should have its own timecode.

You know the length of a clip by writing one timecode and then the next and subtracting. Usually a script supervisor does this

Nicholas,

As far as I can tell there isn't. I too would love it to do that, but have had to go through each number set and zero them all and then set my hour setting to whatever I wanted it to be. Not sure why the TC preset sets itself to the last timecode frame shot, rather than to the last TC preset set. I definitely found that to be a weird choice by Panasonic.

cheers.

Yes you can reset it to all zeros with the push of a button -- look inside the LCD panel for the TC RESET button. When you get to the point where you are able to change the TC PRESET, just press that button and it'll set all the items to zero.
