GH5 Why does Vlog come out so pink?

Looking at the monitor on my gh5 with the vlog-709 lut preview on and my face is PINK. If I turn off vlog and use the natural profile, no pink. I thought maybe it was the monitor so I tried recording and even in FCPX when I add the built in Panasonic vlog-709 lut, same pink problem. Why does it look so bad?

These particular Panasonics lean towards magenta via LOG. Easy fix in post, but not ideal for some.

The problem is the Panasonic V-Log LUT. The color space is called V709, and on the GH cameras, it is deficient in yellow, thereby leaving skin tones looking unnaturally "pink" or magenta-ish. It also renders blue as a very light colored pastel, thereby making blue skies look almost cloudy gray in some instances. Honestly, it's the most frustrating thing about V-Log. You can get better results, I suppose, by using custom LUTs created by some of the very people who frequent DVXUser. Or you can use programs like LUTCalc to roll your own. The latter is what I have done, and I'm fairly satisfied.

I found I got the best results from the GH5s shooting in V-Log and using an ACES workflow in DaVinci Resolve, set to either Rec.709 for HD delivery or Rec. 2020 for UHD delivery.

Resolve has a free version, and is designed to easily create transcodes for editing in other apps if you prefer.
