Why does the image seem softer when shooting with S-LOG?

Is it just me or does the image soften whilst using S-LOG? I just compared some regular cinegamma footage against S-LOG shots and it seems sharper. It shouldn't be though should it? Perhaps the non S-LOG image with its naturally more vibrant colour and punchy footage just appears that way.

Id say its simply a matter of contrast. When S-Log has a LUT applied or graded you'll see them under the same circumstance and the S-Log will be just as sharp.

Another reason could be, if someone has the Detail setting on when in non S-Log and are used to that look, S-Log footage might look "softer" because Detail is turned off when S-Log is on. Personally I've seen no difference in sharpness between the two at all.

Contrast at the edges always makes things look sharper. I remember there was a comparison (in a Barry Green article?) that showed two simple images. Everyone swore the higher contrast was sharper, but they were really the same image wit one in high contrast colors.
