Why does rendering takes so freaking long?

I just tried my dual g5 2.0 with 4 gig of ram. Seven min. to render a deep scratch and color correction on 24 sec of video. I agree, it is not inpressive.

Just tried my P4 3.2 ghz w/ht w/1gig of ram. 24 second video with the 2 filters. It will play back without rendering. Took several seconds to render. I think it is software related. FCP does some things better and P.Pro 1.5 does other things better.

Seems to be the Magic Bullet pluggin as others have stated..

I am running a Dual 1Ghz G4 system (1.5GB RAM)... and rendering a widescreen crop/colour correction takes no time at all... maybe 20 seconds for a couple minutes of video..

I downloaded the MB demo plugins and they took bloody forever to render.. which too me is ridiculous since the same could be achieved in realtime using FCP's colour corrector.

Yup it's MB for 10,000% for sure... Tested it again last night.

Yes, my 12 min MB rich short took 12 hours to render on my G4 laptop.

Coffee,

In your de-interlace thread I recommended Graeme Nattresses G Film effects for de-intrelacing and converting frame rates. Will recommend it again here.

I do feel that MB has teh MOJO the way some feel the DVX has the MOJO over XL series, but the G film plugins are real plugins, not After Effects converted to plugings like MB and they render way way faster ... though like I said, I still use the MB alot.

I don't work for G Film, honest, though I feel like I'm endorsing them always.

Well worth the $100.

Also has a few extras like G Nicer, an algorithm that rewrites 4:1:1 chroma as 4:4:4, which I'm going to try tonight in combo with uprezzing 4:3 letterbox to true 16X9, because I'll shoot myself if I try to do it with Photozoom Pro (Disjecta is a Zen Monk with faster computer than I).

Anyhonkle, here's the link again:

I swear I don't work for them. Just like to see the little guy do well and its a good product at an insanely reasonable price.

Cheers

Thanks. And when I can figure out how Quicktime works, and the new core video API, I'll be able to get my magic scaling working, which should be a lot better than photozoom as it's specially designed for video.

jdanstan, I took a look at it after you posted that in the other thread and have gone back to look at it like 10 times since. lol
My only thing is I'm tapped out. I'm building a house and still spilling $$ into my current home to finish some repairs so $$ is scarce..... Believe me, if I were single without children I would go without eating for a couple of days to get the plugins from Graeme but the kiddies need food on the table 3 times a day, plus snacks, milk, juice, diapers, baby wipes, shoes, clothes, school ****, more food, more snacks, more food, more milk, more diapers, more wipes, more shoes, more clothes, more school ****, even more food, even more snacks, even more food, even more milk, even more diapers, even more wipes, even more shoes, even more clothes, even more school ****.......

DEEP BREATH, exhale...... Maybe I should just sell a kidney or something..... LMAO!

I know what you're saying. You and I have bothed dropped about 10K on gear over a short period of time, and that last $100 for blow back air pistols we used on our 1st short hurt!

Don't sell a kidney. Just sell one of your kids -- doubley effective - no mouth to feed and more $ for gear.

Just joking. Sounds like you have your priorities straight.

No kids here - two cats and a girlfriend in my domestic castle. She volunteers at the SPCA and we realized that we'd just written our wedding vows the other night when she told me she loved me more than puppies (she's not big on humans in general) and I told her that I loved her more than the DVX100a. I told her I loved her more than hostess cupcakes once (of which I consume 3 more a day lately - lots of editing to do), and that ranked as fairly effective though not phenomenal "woo pitching", but when I laid the DVX100a line on her, she genuinely swooned. It's a close race - but she definately comes out ahead ... slightly

DUDE!

If you do that you will be a rock star around here! Disjecta's sticky on uprezzing with photozoom pro was very popular.

I think I figured out how to uprezz in Compressor, and apply noise reduction and edge sharpening then, so no G Nicer uprezz exp for now.

He was talking to . . . . Graeme.
Ohhh...

ok that makes sense
thought he was saying Graeme PMed me
what a difference a comma makes:
"Graeme, just sent you a PM." what coffe wrote, vs.
"Graeme just sent you a PM." which is how my feeble brain read it.
