Why does P2 Genie copy the mxf files out of order?

I can't figure out a way to go into my external hard drive and get the icons back into the order that they were shot in. Any reason why they're not going into each folder in the original order?

I'm pretty sure P2 Genie simply asks the OS to enumerate all of the files and copies them in the order that they are returned. As long as the files are all there, it doesn't really matter.

One possible reason why they don't show up in the order that you expect might be that the folder display is set to order them by name rather than creation date. The names of the clips are semi-random, and sorting them by name will almost certainly cause them to appear out of the order you expect.

Hi Ben,

I'm sure THoff's suggestion about changing the ordering would solve this problem. P2 Genie doesn't change the file attributes in any way so they should sort in the exact same way unless you've changed something in your system settings (like settings for the folder and subfolders you're copying to).

Try HDLog's P2 offloading, you can let the app name the P2 Volumes by date/time, thereby organizing them in the order you want.:)
