Why does my GH1 seem to do auto exposure even though its on Creative Movie Mode?

Hey everyone. I set my GH1 to Creative Movie mode so I have complete manual control over the iris, shutter speed, and exposure . But when I zoom in with the kit lens, the LCD gets brighter and brighter in steps (I even hear a faint click every time it gets brighter) as if the exposure is set to automatic! I thought manual meant manual! Plus, as I zoom in, the f-stop number increases. Why is that? Can't I zoom in all the way and keep the f-stop at 4?! Can someone help me figure this out? Are there more settings I have to change? Thanks. This is a pre-hacked camera, by the way.
 
I just did a quick test and I do recall before you had to close down for it to be a smooth zoom. Looks like now you open to 4.0 for a smooth zoom in. However if you zoom back out it will not be smooth. I don't remember it being like this before. I'm gonna have to look into that.
