Why does my footage look video like

There's a heck of a lot more you need to do than setting your cam to 24p and a 180 degree shutter. There's lighting, set design, wardrobe, hair and makeup, framing, blocking, using the right lens for the shot, post work like color grading the footage, if there's actors, they need to be good, A professionally recorder track is a necessity. You can have a great looking vid, but if the production value of your audio track sucks, then most likely the video will inevitably suck as well. So in order to get a filmic looking production, you need to take my suggestions and more to get the look your after. I say experiment, experiment, experiment. And then when your finished, experiment some more.:)

Oh yeah I already know about all that. It looked bad in camera for me but as soon as I got started editing it looked great

BEcause its not camera, its man behind the camera that makes things look great, if you dont like your work then its time to learn the basics, visit cinematography forum here.

No no I already know this. It was just one scene a had a problem with everything is fine I don't know how to close this thread tho. So people can stop chastising me about oh you need this and that and just a lotta blah I already know it was a small problem I had end of story

That may be true, but understand where your fellow DVXusers are coming from. A new member posts on the DSLR forum "my stuff looks video like, not film like. Why?" It's a common, tiresome question that is not easily answered, although maranfilms really did thourghly answer the question you asked, even if you meant to ask something else. It's always best to elaborate on your scenario, post some video, screengrabs, or numbers, and try to be more specific about the problem.

Help us help you.
