Why Can't I ZOOM in?

Recently I came across a zooming issue with my Panasonic HVX 200. When I try to use the Zoom controls the camera will not zoom in or out. I tried flipping the switch from SERVO to MANUAL and back to SERVO to see if that made a difference, it didn't. I tried to zoom in and out but it automatically zooms out. The HANDLE ZOOM control doesn't work at all. I checked the switches and they are fine. Has anyone else had this problem before and if so what are my other options? Note: the ZOOM RING moves freely in the manual mode.
 
I have heard of this happening if the zoom was manually zoomed when in servo mode. Just a thought.

Thank you Ted RR for your help. However that was not the case for this situation. The camera was already set to servo when I tried to use the controls on the camera.

I think you should re-read TedRR's post, if you had the camera in servo mode and 'accidentally' tried to zoom manually you could break it. So next time you go to use the servo it doesn't work.

Thank you heavyG for your reply. If the zoom control was broken because I accidentally used the zoom ring in SERVO mode would there be other noticeable symptoms?
 
I would get panasonic or a certified repair center to take a look at it as soon as possible.

It automatically zooms out if you zoom it while in manual mode, and switch it to servo mode?
If you zoom in with the rocker it zooms out right away?
So you can zoom in with the zoom rocker, but it will automatically start zooming out right away?

The handle zoom can be turned off, are you sure its on?

It sounds like you might have a short somewhere.

What I mean is. While I am in SERVO mode and I try to zoom in using the zoom buttons, the camera will automatically zoom out. I tried switching from SERVO mode to MANUAL mode then back to SERVO mode to see if that changed anything.

The HANDLE ZOOM was turned ON. I tried turning it off and back on again but that also didn't make a difference.

So far the only way for me to zoom in/out is by using the ZOOM RING in MANUAL mode.

Unfortunately it sounds like a repair ticket is needed.
How old is the camera?

It looks like this camera is set for a trip to the repair center. Thanks a lot to everyone who gave their feedback. I really appreciate it.
