Why can't anyone make up their mind?

I have been searching for the "right" camera for an indie 100K production. I have talked with Panasonic techs, sales reps, blogs etc. and many "qualified" people contradict each other.

Can a real pro please answer this questions?

Can an hvx200 (lit and shot properly) match the quality of an hpx500 for a filmout?

I've been told by a "qualified" rep that I'm wasting my money if I go with an hpx500 instead of an hvx200, because "you will not see any significant difference between the two (even on the big screen), provided that your hvx200 footage was lit and shot properly.

Is this true?

the hpx is (mathematically) better than the hvx in a number of areas. low light performance is one of them.

Eitehr an HVX200 or an HPX500 can deliver fine results on the big screen. The difference in image quality under optimal conditions (for each) isn't worth stressing over.

Where the 500 will save your bacon is in its 1.5 stops of better light sensitivity, its extra 1.5 to 2 stops of dynamic range, and its inherent shallower DOF (meaning you usually won't have to use anything like a 35mm adapter). Plus 4 channels of XLR audio all in-camera at once, and using an SDI monitor instead of the irritating D4 component cable. But the 200 is soooo much smaller and lighter and just quicker to use.

The HPX500 is less noisy too correct? I'd think that that's important for a filmout since when you are blowing up the image the size of the noise particles will increase too.
