Why can I not change the Mic sensivety of 50db in the menu?

I was doing a shoot of a show of a rockgroup. De audio was ful of pops because the audio level was to high.
IMO it could be better is I could lower the sensitivety in the menu to 30 or even 10db/0db.
Am I right or is there more to it? My microphone could handle the pressure I assume. I solve the problem by filling my boom windjammer first with foam and later with towelpaper around the mic.

If you need to attenuate the signal, you can buy a pad to do it. I have a standard -30 dB one built into a short cable I use between my Sennhesier K6 output and the Panasonic input, like a lot of mics the Sennheiser is too hot for the preamps on the Panasonic cameras. I've got a lot of use out of this pad- used it on my HVX200 and my DVX100 before that!

Cheers, Hywel.

I use a Shure inline switchable 10-20-30DB Pad. It works great I always have 2 in my runbag.

I like to have my volume dial set at about 5 (halfway up) if I have to turn it down more then I use my Shure pad.
