To be honest I have a stick up my butt about this because I worked for years in a rental house and collimated every single lens that went out on every single motion picture camera 35mm or 16mm. In 2/3" video the first thing I do in the morning with a rental camera is check the back-focus. These are standard professional procedures and personally I feel like I am in a dentist's chair when they are casually ignored.
On the other hand, people using adapters have been making good pictures with horribly misadjusted systems out there. Of course there also have been many complaints about softness and focusing problems.
I've been trying to make a case for typical professional optical standards ( the same as on an SLR) , but you have to make your own judgements.
