Why are there so many polls?

I base that opinion on 'forums in general' not just on this one. My statement did not specify dvxuser.com only. It was general. I mean the response the polls are getting in just two hours means people are enjoying them right? It's fun to give folks a forum to vote on something and then argue about why they did. N'est pas?

in the two weeks ive been on this board, it is easily the best forum on the net for me. But i mean, taking offence at a statement that was in no way an indictment of the forum is what I was talking about. The site's amazing, and I thought of a way to stimulate things, that's all. I mean you do like inovation right lol
a forum's a forum though, so it' really is just people of like minds coming together to talk and exchange ideas. As such, in two weeks it is possible to know that polls are not that plentiful and to use that as my personal way of starting dialogue. I could have just said hey guys what do you think is the best blah blah blah. Can't i just be known as the poll guy? (i kid of course, but man these polls have caused all kinds of reaction good and bad...surprising)

Jesus! What with all the polls ROKOKO? Guess what? You've completely used up your quota of polls for the next 6 months. I don't even want to see anyone with 4 simultaneous threads on the same day in the Cafe--let alone polls. When you post, you're also pushing other threads off the page, so let's please go with a little restraint.
With a bunch of polls you end up splintering discussion. It also pushes more important random posts to the second page.

Was it in the regulations about the poll quota? Or the thread quota? I mean had I known I would not have done it obviously. People seemed to be enjoying the conversations and I like talking about films of all genres so I thought why not have separate polls and threads for the genres. Not trying to make any big decisions or cause problems (which I must have for the moderator and now barry to be on at me). Oooookay.... :undecided
