GH2 why am I getting only 110Mbps with the Quantum X v4b 144 Mbps constant bit rate hack?

I just shot six different scenes with the Quantum X v4b Orion constant bit rate hack of 144Mbps, and my video bitrate was only 113, 116, 111, 99, 110, and 112 Mbps for the six scenes.

Is this normal? I thought that "constant bit rate" meant that regardless of what's you're recording, you would see 144 Mbps in 1080p24 mode. Is this not the case???

I just can’t understand why the Quantum X v4b Orion constant bit rate of 144Mbps in 1080p24 is consistently giving me a much lower bit rate (99? 110?) than 144 Mbps.

Can you honestly see any difference between those bitrates. In the real world I cant see any noteable difference in anything over 40Mbps

Hi Colin, I'm not complaining my any means. Just trying to understand why after applying the hack, I'm not getting a constant bit rate. The Quantum X v4b is a "constant bit rate" hack of 144Mbps. There's also a VBR (variable bit rate) option, but I selected the CBR option.

Have you tried this hack and if so what results are you getting bit rate wise? Because according to testers using streamparser to measure the bit rate, it should consistently be around 144 Mbps. So I'm just wondering what I could be doing wrong.

Its still a VBR codec, it can get close to being CBR but it will still give variation, just not as dramatic a variation as it would do if not tweaked. Its CBR-Like, it's not really CBR. If you really want to chase CBR you may find that the Sedna AQ1 versions will give you less variation in bit rate.
