Who's using Nex-5n?

if there is no proof, it didn't happen. For all we know, the sony's were better than anything else in the test. I'd like to see the proof before taking your stated findings with anything more than a pinch of salt.

First, off that's why he said he'd want footage before writing a blog post. Second off, this is Kholi, who seems unbiasedly interested in finding the best image and quite capable of judging what that is. I would chill your jets a hair, Richg101.

Hey is there a new version of the NEX-5n scheduled to come out this summer? I remember hearing something, but can't recall the model name. It would be nice if they improved a few things. I want to get one for aerial video, but will wait a couple months if something better is on the horizon.

The new model will be the Nex F5, if the rumors are true will come with:
-Same rotating screen for self portraits as the Nex F3
-Included flash
-WiFi

The announcement must be in June.

Yeah rumors say most likely August, if you go by last year's releases. Maybe I'll have the money by then!

Hey Chuck, that 2nd video of the cars looks fabulous! The first one I think suffers from the compression artifacts of whatever place you uploaded it to. It's a bet soft looking. Anyway, great camera work on both! I want to get one to fly on my quadcopter, but now I'm thinking I'll get the new version (F5) when it comes out. Still saving up. So many other things to get....

I received my 5N. What a nifty little thing!!
Can't say much else about it yet: the adapter for my lenses is still on its way.

I'm trying to work out how I'm going to hold it (and how I'm going to attach the accessories that lived on the hot shoe of my old Canon)

And I just measured the back of the camera and figured that these heatsinks should work great with it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Copper-RA...?pt=US_CPU_Fans_Heatsinks&hash=item5ae58303bc
(I just ordered them, but they will also take a while to arrive from China)

Hey Samuel, have you ever thought of using a rig like the Norbert Sport? I have one and it's great for holding the camera as well as anything else you need like a light, mic, wireless, flash etc. I made a little video about mine (as well as the K-Tek Tad Pole) showing ways to use it.

My ideas was to build something like that, but smaller, just as big as the 5N requires. Or maybe just adding something to make the camera's grip a bit bigger. Still thinking...

In any case, seeing how small the 5N is, it has to be something designed specifically for it. If I can't find a commercial product that fits my needs, I'll just DIY it :)

OK, so I've been using this little camera for a few days, and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I still haven't pixel-peeped at the footage, but I'm certainly happy with the ergonomics.

I don't know if it is because it's so lightweight, but the 5N feels really easy to handhold, it so far seems a much better walk-around camera than my old 550D (T2i). Yes, the grip is small, but holding the camera from there while not shooting is surprisingly confortable (with the 550D, I tended to suffer from "claw hands" after a few hours).

For shooting... I've bought a NEX-to-Canon adapter with tripod mount, and I have my QR plate permanently there. Holding the camera with the left hand on the QR plate (operating focus) and with the right hand on the grip (operating everythin else) is surprisingly confortable. I had plans to attach the FF with a DIY contraption, but I'm rethinking that: it may be unnecessary.

I use the nex 5n as my main stills camera now. We use it a lot as a b camera or specialty camera with the Sony FS100, you can match them close enough the average person can't notice. We just received the FS700 today, so I'm sure the nex5 will now be moved into specials only. But it holds up quite well.
