Haha, it takes me 38 minutes to export my film and I know the exact compression settings I am going to use. But I am waiting on sooooooundddddddd!
As we speak it is exporting from his computer and he'll upload it to his website...that should take..10 minutes. 5 minutes to download. 15+38 = 53. That leaves like, some time to get the upload to work...right? Right?
If worse comes to worse, I have a copy of the film with not too much audio work done.
I just want someone who feels my pain. Although, I'm sure everyone else who does is working their butt off and not sitting on the internet.
In the mean time I'm transferring the files I'm going to need to export to my firewire 800 drive. Hopefully that'll speed things up.
I finished final touches and went to export/upload at 12est. Ofcourse.... with my luck, internet service is out just as I finished the last name on the credits. So off I went to find a 24 hour internet cafe, where I am now. There is no wireless service. They guy wont let me plug an ethernet cable into my mac. So off i went back home to pick up a hardrive. Now i'm back and the whole time i had my export going through quicktime which takes forever and a day. Turns out the file is too big so im re-exporting at this crappy i-cafe on the edge of my seat as I watch the clock tick. I will be so mad at myself but more mad at time warner if I dont make it in time.
OMFG thank you festival gods, my 3rd QT export just finished up at 49.3MB! 2:37am and i'm uploading baby!
Hope you are finding some good luck too, Ryan.
***edit*** my upload is stopped at 23% and isnt moving. It said 16kb/s. The estimated time just keeps getting longer. Am I screwed? How long does the upload usually take?
I didnt get that error. Although my entry is practically at stand still with 2 kb/s upload rate. I've too have been uploading for over a half hour. I hope we are counted in.
I can't say for sure, but I don't *think* it's going to stop exactly at 12. If anything my guess would be that there is a bottleneck b/c of so many people trying to upload at once.
Just give it a shot. If there are issues with the server being overcrowded, I'm sure Larry will take that into consideration. Just keep on trucking. I don't think Larry or Barry are out to look for ways to disqualify folks. We want everyone in the fest who wants to be in the fest.
Unfortunately, it sucks that my internet went out and i had to come upload at this internet cafe. So I guess I have to stay here until it finishes huh? I have work at 9am.... its 3am now. I wonder what the hourly rate is here.
Oh well, definitely worth the trouble to get my entry uploaded.
