Who in NY would pay say $20 to watch some AF100 footage on a movie screen?

Just an idea i had, since proving to someone that a camera is cinema quality is always a challenge, gathering a group of people and actually watching footage on a big screen just might shut people up and then get them talking.

I run a film festival so i already have plenty of places in mind where it could take place. and the way i figure it, (updated)if even just 60 people chipped in $10, we could get a space and maybe give each person a minute of their own footage to show.

How's something like that sound? You new yorkers out there: if you're game, speak up and i'll make this happen.

What is "cinema quality"?

The $20 bucks cover costs, right? If so, I'm in. Hopefully I'll be seeing the short we're shooting in April with the AF-100 on a screen in one festival or another!

Not a bad idea gary, i'll bug jan and see if that's a possibility, but in the meantime, get as many people to shout in here as possible so jan can show panasonic that they will be a big crowd if the front the money

I showed my film at Anthology Film Archives and it cost $600 to rent the place... 30 people!

Working out the numbers, if 100 people would commit, it would be $10 a person and we could get a whole day. So who's up for it?

I'm in LA but I'll send in $10.00 to show my support. Great idea.

I'd love to hear a positive result about how it holds up. The last film I directed was shot on the CanonXL2. It did not hold up when we screened it. This is back in the day. Jeez "back in the day" used to mean 20 years ago. These days that means a few years if that with tech growing at the rate it is.

I won't be there in person, though I use to live in NYC from 99-03, but I'd love to send you a Bluray/SD card with a 60 second clip with $20 just to get our sample in there :-) Cool idea.

keep the support coming! Great to hear the enthusiasm, even with just 60 commits we can book at decent amount of time, but i can't in good conscience accept anyone's money unless it's guaranteed it will happen. i have two locations possible but both are tight in booking as it is, so the sooner we can confirm the sooner we can get a date, and while were on that subject what are the general preferences, weekend/weekday/any?

Keep getting the word out! If there is anywhere you think we should look for people to make this happen by all means mention it

Count me in. I am still new to this (the AF100 is my 1st real camera) and think this would be a great experience. I'm in North Jersey

I can see renting a place to see how it looks on a big screen, But from my experience I can tell you anything can be cinematic enough for a blow up. We know mini dv(sd) was fine on the big screen, the xha1, and others were fine in crank2. So there should be no issue with this cam.
