I am so glad that Sony has come out with the FS700 I had wished to be able to buy the C300 but alas it was to expensive, and in my opinion to expensive for what it does. But here came Sony and gave use a camera that from what I see has allot of the same quality as the C300 but at a reasonable price! Maybe I'm just happy I can afford this camera. Sorry for gushing but I love Sony's affordability as of recently. :)

It depends what the 1080p and the 4K of the 700 can do. The 1080p of the C300 is perfect, flawless. How does the 1080p perform on the 700 compared to that? Then, what will 4k look like? Will it be real 4k (3,2k after debayering) or will it be more like the first HDV cameras with about 800,000 pixels within a 2 Megapixel container?

I think it's way too early to tell. Until it is in people hands and we stop seeing all this "test footage", we'll have a better idea.

Plenty of choice at all levels and features. 4k or not 4K, 422 or 420, slo-mo or not slo-mo.

You kids don't know you're born.

I remember when it was PD150 or XL1 and we used to have Usenet wars about it too!

There's reason to be excited.

DM is right, though, the camera isn't even out yet. But that never stopped the hype, did it?

Canon lost me as a customer (for now) because they've just been dragging ass getting out what the people want. The price point on the C300 was the death knell. And I think the pricing on the FS100/700 is fair enough AND delivers the goods that independent film makers have been asking for since the DSLR craze.

That's not to say I think Canon won't release a more affordable version of the C300, but I just couldn't wait any longer.

So to answer your original question…..maybe?
