I'm doing some research for a media arts organization interested in buying a set of SLR lenses. Are there companies who modify SLR lenses and sell them in sets for video work? I'm aware of Duclose...any others and any in Canada?
Thanks Optitek, good advice and maybe they will invest in some adaptors. They're hoping to get some actual glass though, thinking the long term investment will be well spent (as back-end camera bodies change, the lens remains the same)
The glass will stay there- you are not changing it.
The adapters will be there as well as the bodies change.
There are unique advantages of using still glass such as image stabilisation, remote control, data capture, etc.. that you are ignoring or just plain throwing away if you cinevise still lenses. Not to even mention the compatibility with still cameras, resale value or manufacturer's warranty....
Vintage lenses are great for conversion versus modern ones. The old lenses have longer focus throws and some have manual apertures. These are ripe for getting focus rings and declicking. But these also take time to gather nice ones. My set are vintage Leica R.
