White Balance with Matte Box

Hello everyone,

I'm new to these boards and the DVX but a long time film and video shooter. In looking over my new DVX 100A I realize that the sensor for the white balance is in the front on the camera body. It seems very close to the lens. I would think that an eyebrow on the matte box will get in the way. So I'm wondering if anyone has had any problems with a matte box getting in the way of the white balance sensor?

I'm waiting for the adaptor for my Vocas 2 stage matte box to arrive so I can't check it out yet. Many thanks for such a great resource for the DVX.

I believe the sensor you're talking about is the autofocus sensor. Your matte box shouldn't have an effect on white balance.

The camera white balances off of the CCDs and not a sensor. Is the sensor you are looking at the one for the remote?

The white balance sensor is used only when doing ATW (automatic tracking white balance). If you're performing a manual white balance it looks at the image through the lens. But if you're relying on ATW, it uses the external sensor.
