White Balance when lights change

How do you set white balance while shooting in a environment where the lighting changes, such as, for a concert or a theater play? I can white balance at the beginning, however, the lights will change constantly.

Thanks.

In a scenario like that the lights are changing for effect, so you don't want to "chase" the white balance or you'll lose the effect of the lights.

Frankly in an artificial light environment like that you are probably safe to just stick it on the appropriate preset and stay there.

Would it make more sense to white balance prior to the lights changing or during the changes?

Thanks.

I think Barry's suggesting that you shouldn't do a manual wb at all. Just use the camera's hard-preset 3200k wb mode. In a situation like you're describing there might not be any effective way to manually wb. You can always tweak the results in post.

You always tweak WB under a constant.

As said, you can tweak for an overall colorcast in post- assuming there's ever a moment of neutral light. With a consistent setting though, and assuming there's a section of neutral lighting where skin tone etc . actually matters, you can adjust for whatever colorcast (in post) and be done. If your WB is all over the place in camera there's no way to effectively balance in post. I'd go with the indoor preset, myself given that it's going to be completely nuts anyway and be more concerned with exposure.
